This week, I got to learn more about Anxiety Disorder, specifically Panic Disorder. As future educators, it is our job to be prepared to help students with many mental health issues, as this one has deadly potential. As I have experienced panic attacks, they made me feel as if there is an imminent danger nearby, with heart pains that could rival that of a heart attack. Sometimes I would be alone and had no idea how to calm myself down from having a panic attack, wishing someone would be there to help. This is where we can come in as educators, with the proper training and knowledge that can help our students if they experience a panic attack in our classroom. No student deserves to be left behind, especially the ones who are most vulnerable and experience this disorder.

Hi, Gabby! I really like the theme you chose for your slide. I find the colors aesthetically pleasing. I also appreciate how clearly you presented the information about this mental health issue. I talked about social anxiety disorder, and it seems like the disorders we focused on share some symptoms and treatments. Social anxiety disorder can also cause one to isolate themselves from society. Medication and psychotherapy are the two most popular forms of treatment to treat social anxiety. Why do you think that is? Could the disorders be similar in a way? You also mentioned the use of relaxation techniques during class as a way to treat panic disorder. What are some examples of the techniques that could be used? Overall, this is a great slide post, and you did a fantastic job of informing us on this disorder. Thank you for sharing!

    Hi Gabby,
You did a great job on your blog post this week. I really liked your PowerPoint slide. It was informational and well-constructed. I feel like I learned a lot about panic disorder and have a comprehensive understanding of the problem from an educator’s perspective. I have a question about the treatment for the disorder. What kind of medicines and therapies work best for Panic disorder? Also, what causes the onset? Is it a genetic thing or something that comes from trauma? How could you expand upon what teachers can do to help? Maybe by giving some examples of relaxation techniques, you could show what exactly teachers can do to support the children. All in all, great job done!
